During the testing phase, I used The Glue on many different group tools and channels with great success. One of my mixing projects involved mixing four different bass tracks into a single mono group channel, and The Glue helped me standardize the levels of the various bass notes without introducing compression artefacts.<\/p>\n

On the same project, we were able to collect the doubles and backing vocals without missing a beat, which was a pleasant surprise. It is a fixed wave pattern that is linear at -2dB, curves smoothly at -0.5dB, and then is horizontal. The highest compression meter shows the depth of compression in an RMS level mode and clicking on the meter also shows the maximum amount of compression.<\/p>\n

Just a bit of compression on the drum bus made the drums sit together without losing the sound of the snare hit or hit, and I got the cymbals and hat to blend more into the mix without them taking over the show. Sometimes I just needed a little compression, and the range control made it possible by limiting the compression to a few decibels.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s New?<\/h3>\n

• To take a closer look at the benefits of using oversampling when applying dynamic processing, I did a short recording session between the two versions of The Glue.<\/li>\n
• In comparison, the oversampled processing maintained better stereo width, more transients, and a slightly greater depth in the middle. I should point out that the differences were small and that I preferred non-oversampled processing for some sources due to the colour of the transients.<\/li>\n
• Oversampling will be available as an option in a future update of The Glue. If you are reading this, it will probably be implemented.<\/li>\n
• The first test was a drum loop that was already heavily processed with a lot of low ends. I used my army of SSL clones to break them down into 10: 1 with an attack of 3 ms and release times of<\/li>\n
• The threshold has been set so that the counter indicates compression of approximately dB. Although the differences were minimal, the oversampled glue was a little brighter than the non-oversampled glue.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
